Lucy's New Trick and a few other treasures

Lucy LOVES this new trick! She stands up to anything and everything she can reach. She thinks she is so cool when she does it too. She has been trying so hard to climb up this ledge but her legs just aren't quite long enough. She will get there very soon.
I found this outfit in the closet- hiding. I love it when that happens. It's my new favorite. Thank you Sweet Pea, for stocking our closet with such fun treasures.
Our matching hot pink.

Lucy decided she wanted to be a duck for Halloween. We couldn't wait to try it on. Today she likes it. On Halloween it may be a screaming picture of her in the duck costume.

Lots of fun going on...

We are back to real life with James in school. But it has not stopped us from having a little fun in between. James' parents were here for the weekend and it was good to see them. The last time they saw Lucy was at her blessing and she has changed so much since then.
Lucy loves solid foods. She especially loves to play in it.

Yum... prunes.... needless to say we had lots left to play in.

We went up to Nielson's park for an evening stroll. Lucy was mesmerized by the ducks.

Grandpa and Lucy at Texas Road house

Lucy's new favorite thing is drinking out of a cup. She gets so excited whenever I have a cup in my hand. She is getting pretty good too. The doctor says she is supposed to drink from a cup herself by the time she is 1 year old.... I didn't believe it but we started practicing anyway, and I think she might actually get there.

I just thought this was funny. Lucy played with James' face for the entire book.

I had my 10 year class reunion last weekend. It was a lot of fun. I was sort of nervous about going because my experience at the 5 year reunion was less than desirable. It was good to laugh with friends and see everyone all grown up.

Speaking of reunions; I invited my northern Utah Sullivan cousins over for some good Sunday night cake and ice cream (or milk). Complete with a Grandma Sullivan made chocolate cake with white icing. I brought it up from St George the day before. It was lots of fun. To read more about the evening you can visit my recipe blog lauriskitchencabinet.blogspot.com

GO COUGARS!!!

Lucy didn't even make it to the kick off. She did not appreciate all the cheering. So glad we bought those season tickets... But she sure looked cute!

Life Goes On

I haven't written for awhile. I have been grateful to James for keeping up this blog, because we don't leave Provo much these days and Lucy is growing so fast no one will recognize her if there wasn't an update here and there.
To be completely honest it is getting tougher and tougher to work and be a mom. I still enjoy my job but the time I spend away from Lucy is getting more difficult. There are some things that I do love about her spending some time around other kids in childcare though. The peer interaction that she gets is priceless. She loves to watch the other kids move and shake and it motivates her to do the same. I have said before it is like she comes home and practices and practices this crawling thing just so she can show her peeps what she has learned the next day. She loves her teachers, Miss Jane and Miss Alex. And I do too! They are so good to her and love her so much. They also do some pretty fun activities that are sooo great for her development. Lucy's favorite is to play in the sandbox with the other kids. During the summer, they always have pool day on Fridays. She was only in childcare a couple of Fridays but she loved it. I got to watch her splash in the kiddie pool from the conference room window on the second floor between meetings with parents. It was so fun. Also, today was picture day! They had school pictures and even took class pictures. I have been excited for weeks for her to get her picture taken. I went and got her a new outfit and everything. She really cheesed it up big time! It only took a matter of minutes to get several great shots. I am so excited to get these prints. I will send some to everyone! Needless to say there are some good things that Lucy is learning, but I do feel bad that she can't have more structure because some days she goes and others she is at home with one of us. But she is loved in both places and that is what gives me confidence to keep moving on.
James had a break for a couple of weeks and it was so nice to have him at home so much. He is back in school and honestly I have been dreading this semester all summer long. He's got a full load with classes, working a few hours as a teachers assistant, watching Lucy 2 days a week, along with making sure all those graduate applications are filled out and in on time. I know he'll do great! And we will be fine. One thing that makes everything tolerable is living in this beautiful home. We love it so much. I love the huge kitchen! I can cook several things at once, and make an even bigger mess for James to clean up when dinner is done ;). It is great! We love the yard too. It is a lot of work to keep up but it is so nice to hang out back there. We don't feel like we have to head to the park every time we want to spend some time outside. So a big THANK-YOU to my Uncle Gawain and Aunt Gayle for giving us this opportunity to be more comfortable than we ever were before. I don't have any pictures but we did have a great time with my mom last weekend. We went to Acapellastock. It was my mom's 8th year, my 5th year and James' 4th year going. If you want to read more about it, click here (That's the first time I have ever done that, added a link.... cool). She took all the pictures. We just have the memories.
I am still trying to keep up my recipe blog. I have lots to add, but don't always get them on as fast as I want to. Thanks to those that leave comments. Those that are trying the recipes and letting me know of their successes keeps me going on that blog. And I really love doing it too. But it is nice to know I am sharing some useful information.
I hope all is well. I may not post again for awhile, but James will keep the updates coming.

Lucy Crawling.... sort of...

Lucy has been trying to crawl for several weeks now. She just can't get her arms moving in the same direction that her legs want to take her. We are still working on it...

Silly Baby...

This is just a silly game James plays with Lucy to get her to smile.

A Video Update

Lucy is getting so mobile and stable when sitting. It is so much fun to watch her "crawl" but mostly roll around the room. She is getting so close. I will try and post a video of that sometime too.
